A steel box girder being lifted by one (1) 500 tonnes Truck Crane ( Demag AC1600 ) was placed on top of Pier 12.
The steel box girder was fabricated by Tuck Sin Engineering at the Sungai Tekali fabrication yard. The box girder with its heaviest piece measuring 37m length x 1.8m width x 4m height and weighing 105mt needed to be transported using a multi axled hydraulic trailer from Ulu Langat to Jalan Tun Razak. Our scope of supply included rigging studies with autocad drawings, manpower / rigging team to assist in supervision and rigging works, provide all lifting tools such as turnbuckles, shackles and lifting slings. 8 curved box girders and 4 straight box girders were erected onto the pier and temporary support by one (1) unit 500 tonnes Truck Crane (Demag AC1600) and two (2) units 160 tonnes Truck Cranes (TG 1600M & NK1600).
The operation and signaling were under the supervision of our very competent rigging team.
Two (2) units of 160 tonnes Truck Cranes lifting a box girder and placing it to the pier at one end. The other end was connected to the centre girder by a bolting joint.
The job had to be well planned and organized mainly on the logistics due to a very limited time frame allowed to work on the public road (only 6 hrs. per operation). The job was successful executed in 8 straight nights along Jalan Tun Razak highway with the total road closure assisted by the traffic police.
Two (2) units of 160 tonne Truck Cranes rigging on a bridge to lift and erect 2 pieces of a Mid Span girder by bolt connection. (Total bolt joint – 930 nos).
The erection of the steel box girder for Package 1, Putrajaya Highway was carried out by Trans Elite Equipment Rental Sdn Bhd in September 2007.
